The Dengue Virus is a mosquito-borne virus that causes Dengue Fever in humans. The virus has four distinct serotypes, named DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV-4. The NS3 protein of the virus is a multifunctional enzyme that plays a critical role in viral replication and pathogenesis. The NS3 protein contains two enzymatic activities, protease and helicase, that are essential for viral RNA replication and maturation. Therefore, the NS3 protein has been identified as a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of Dengue Fever. Inhibitors targeting the NS3 protein can interfere with viral replication and help to control the spread of the disease.
